This past Martin Luther King Jr Day, PIIPA and our interfaith partners celebrated by hosting an online conference, Myth-Understanding our Faith: The Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Each year PIIPA meets with our partners to discuss how best to continue MLK’s legacy of nonviolence, equity, equality, and brotherhood. By working with leaders from different faiths, PIIPA continues to work towards our most basic tenet: promote a civil society based on shared human values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Furthermore, this year more attention was drawn to the vast wealth inequalities that plague the United States. As Martin Luther King said once, “We can’t have a system where people live in superfluous, inordinate wealth, while others live in abject deadening poverty.” COVID-19 has exposed how fragile the system is in the United States, and how precarious a line millions of Americans walk as they live paycheck to paycheck.

PIIPA works extensively with interfaith organizations to create a solid common ground that will help benefit the entire community. When there is a well-grounded relationship in the interfaith community, more can be achieved to create a more equal society.
