We had the incredible opportunity to travel across Andalusia with nearly 30 amazing participants on an interfaith exploration organized in partnership with the National Council of Synagogues and Peace Islands Institute PA and Peace Islands Institute New York. This unforgettable journey was filled with rich conversations, deep learning, and shared moments of reflection and discovery.

Our daily learning sessions enriched the experience even further, offering powerful insights into history, faith, and culture.

In Madrid, we began with a panoramic city tour and explored the heart of Spain’s capital, including a visit to the world-renowned Prado Museum, laying a strong foundation for our cultural immersion.

In Toledo—often referred to as the city of “Three Religions, One Culture”—we walked through centuries of layered religious history. We visited Santa María la Blanca Synagogue, the Sephardic Museum, the Mosque of Cristo de la Luz, and the Toledo Cathedral, gaining insight into how Muslims, Jews, and Christians once coexisted.

In Córdoba, we wandered the beautiful Calleja de las Flores, explored the Old Jewish Quarter, crossed the Roman Bridge, and admired the Mezquita-Catedral, a stunning symbol of cultural fusion.

In Seville, we visited the historic Jewish Quarter of Santa Cruz and toured landmarks such as the Cathedral of Seville and the Giralda Tower.

Throughout the journey, we had the unique opportunity to meet with local faith communities in the cities we visited. These meaningful encounters allowed us to learn about their current experiences and hear about ongoing interfaith initiatives in the region.

And in breathtaking Granada, we toured the majestic Alhambra, the Palace of Charles V, the Royal Chapel, and strolled through the charming Albaicín neighborhood, absorbing the soul of Andalusian heritage.

This journey was more than a trip. It was a living dialogue of the senses and spirits. We laughed, we learned, we prayed, and we celebrated the beauty of our shared humanity.

Thank you to the Milstein Center for Interreligious Dialogue for their generous support of this meaningful journey.
